The word 'merlot' in French means Little Blackbird, named because the grapes are blue-black. Our Merlot vines are a combination of French varietal grown on American rootstock to promote disease resistance.
Although we are not officially carrying an organic certification, we are committed to sustainable agriculture, and try to use as few chemicals as we can.
Merlot grapes are delicious when ripe, and can be used to make Merlot wine, as well as blended into Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. We sell some of our grapes to local vineyards for just this purpose.
We grow three varieties of table grape, Venus, Jupiter, and Mars. They are early, middle, and late ripening versions of the classic Concord grape many people will recognize as the staple of peanut butter and jelly.
